Hurrah, we come to the end of the module! We started by asking if sound and water waves or similar or different. As we saw in this module, sound and water waves are quite different!

Sound waves are longitudinal, because the compressions and rarefactions of the air molecules move in the same direction as the wave.

Water waves are transverse because the wave is moving in a perpendicular direction to the direction in which the water molecules move.
