Hurrah, we come to the end of the module! We began by asking what Homo in Homo sapiens meant. Homo is the genus that modern humans belong to.

Humans who existed about 1 million years ago were so different from us that they are considered a different species altogether. Their scientific name is Homo erectus.

So, we see that our ancestors belong to the same genus, but, are a different species.
