Excellent guess! For thousands of years, people were debating this question of what would happen to matter if you kept splitting it. Only in the last few hundred years have we seen evidence for the fact that matter is actually discrete.
The small units that make up matter are called particles. So, when you see water, though it looks continuous, it is actually made up of particles.
What do you think is there between two neighbouring particles (Point A)?
  • Another particle
  • Nothing
  • Air
