If we want to denote the atomic and mass number, we write it as shown in the figure. So, \(7\) is the atomic number, and \(14\) is the mass number.
How many protons, electrons and neutrons does \(^{26}_{12} X\) have? Just to recap, atomic number is the number of protons; mass number is the number of protons plus the number of neutrons.
